The Celtic saints were drawn to live in remote places and deliberately chose spots they considered to be on 'the edge of the world'. Cornwall's rugged coastline drew many to stay here and set up prayer communities. With the wildness of the sea constantly on their doorstep it appealed to their desire to lead ascetic lives of worship and sacrifice.
