Celtic Glory

Illtud

Illtud

St Illtud founded a Celtic monastic community at Llantwit Major in Wales. It became a major centre for training of monks and evangelists. Dubricius and Samson are both associated with the monastery and the current medieval church is built on the original site. Worship and prayer have been continuous for 1500 years and the atmosphere is peaceful and full of God's presence. The walls feel permeated with the prayers of Christians. Some excellent examples of Celtic high crosses are preserved in an exhibition and the whole site continues to be a 'thin place' in the Spirit realm.
