The upper lake at Glendalough is particularly beautiful at dawn and dusk when the tourists have retreated and the lake is peaceful. It's easier to imagine the solitary life of St Kevin in his hermit cave and prayer cell perched on the wooded hillside above the lake. It's a lovely place to pray and commune with God.
